Creating Leaders one child at a time
My name is Karla Carlston and I teach 1st grade at West Kearns Elementary! I live here in Utah with my husband and have wanted to be a teacher since I was a little girl. I attended BYU-Idaho where I majored in Early Childhood Education/Special Education. I then came to Utah to student teach at West Kearns and was hired to be a new first grade teacher after I finished student teaching. I am currently working on my Masters of education as well.
I love teaching. It is my passion and my calling. I believe in the children I teach. I believe that children can be leaders. They can prevent bullying instead of start it. They can learn to be responsible for their own learning and for their actions. I believe in creativity and seeing each child as an individual not as a collective whole. Every child is unique and precious in their own way, and my goal is to encourage that to come out in my classroom!
I am available before and after school for any talks you may want to have or information you may need. You will need to make an appointment with me through email or through the front office. I also would love any parent volunteers as well for field trips, paper help, and more.
Please feel free to contact me through the school by appointment 385.646.5073
or by my school email: [email protected]
I look forward to working with you this year!
